Requirements
We want every dog who spends time with us to be safe, cared for, and to receive all they need to be happy while their owners are away. That’s why we have several requirements that ensure a smooth stay for all of the dogs in our care.
According to the NC Department of Veterinary Medicine, all dogs must have current vaccinations in order to enter our facility. Once your dog is vaccinated, your veterinarian can fax these documents to us.
The vaccinations we require for all dogs boarding or day-boarding at our facility include Rabies Vaccination, Canine Distemper Vaccination, Parvo Vaccination, and Canine Kennel Cough Vaccination. We also require that all dogs who board or day-board with us have been spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.

Food
We encourage all dog owners to supply their furry friend’s normal food for the duration of their stay. This cuts down on the possibility of diet change-related digestive upsets that your pet may experience from eating unfamiliar foods.
Should you forget to bring your dog’s normal food, or if you would like to try our high-quality kennel food, it is available to you and your dog! Our thoughtfully curated dog food is available for a charge of $5.00 per pet, per day in our kennel.
Health and Safety
Puppies in our care must be old enough for rabies shots, and we require all dogs over 6 months of age to be spayed or neutered in order to stay in our kennel. We are unable to accept any dog over 6 months of age who is intact, pregnant, or in heat.
All dogs in our care must be undergoing veterinarian-approved flea and tick treatment prior to entering our facility, and all dogs must be flea and tick-free. Capstar pills will be given to any dog entering our facility with a curent flea or tick issue at the owner’s expense.
Holiday Policies
We know how much you love your pets, because we are pet parents, too! That’s why at Scenic River Kennels, we are here 365 days a year for you and your dogs. However, our check-in and check-out services are closed on holidays, so please take this into account when planning your trip.
As holiday periods are some of our busiest times at Scenic River Kennels, we require that holiday reservations must be canceled three (3) full days prior to the scheduled arrival date. A no-call, no-show during the holiday periods will result in a required pre-pay for all future reservations.
Pick Up and Drop Off Information
Pick-up and drop-off times are between 9:00-11:00 AM and 4:00-6:00 PM.
Pick-ups between 4:00-6:00 PM will be billed for a half day.
